Baby Blanket

The directions to this blanket were found on this awesome website:

Ahhhh, that wonderful smell of new baby! I am a proud auntie for the 11th time! My brother and sister-in-law had a little boy, 5 pounds and 7 ounces. Just the tiniest little thing but so precious and sweet. He came a few weeks early and the blanket I was crocheting for his birth-day present wasn't even close to being finished! You should have seen my fingers just a flyin once I found out he welcomed the world early. It turned out beautifully. I chose bright colors in hopes that he will grow attached to this blanket and maybe want to continue using it well into his toddler years. I wanted it to be sturdy and boyish (no pink!) I hope he will love it as much as I do! Sometimes it's difficult to give away the projects....this one turned out, oh-so-cozy!

Onesie Art

For my sister-in-law's baby shower, my girls and I decided to decorate onesies with cute sayings on them. I did some googling research to find a whole lotta sayings, and then we each chose our favorite one and went to town decorating the little outfits. We used fabric markers and put a small piece of cardboard in between the front and back so the markers wouldn't soak through. My brother and sister-in-law loved them! They held each one up for all to see. And the best part is that my new little nephew decided to surprise the world by welcoming us all two weeks early. He was only 5 pounds and 7 ounces, and most of the clothes they received were for 0-3 months. So, these little newborn onesies fit him perfectly.

Easy Tie Dye!

I found this on the internet somewhere and it looked like so much fun and so easy to do. So my daughters and I spent a hot afternoon on our patio designing tank tops.

The supplies are very basic. We already had everything we needed except the tank tops which I found at Target. You could do t-shirts too.
Rubbing Alcohol
Sharpie Pens
Rubber Bands
Plastic Cups
Plastic Spoon or Eye Dropper/Medicine Dropper
White Tank or T-Shirt

Put the rubber band around a plastic cup that is under the tank top. Pull tightly but watch out so that the rubber band doesn't spring off into your eye!

Then use the Sharpie Pens to design pretty patterns onto your tank. When you have the desired design, use an eye dropper to drop the rubbing alcohol onto the design. You can also use a spoon to carefully drip the rubbing alcohol onto the pattern.

Different things will happen with different amounts of rubbing alcohol. With too much, the colors will bleed into each other dramatically. With not enough, the colors won't really bleed at all. We had a big white old bed sheet that we practiced on before we did the actual designs onto our tanks.

The drop cloth was even prettier than the tanks when we were done with it. It will be fun to pull out the next time we paint a room and have all the "practice" tie dying on it!

Mine turned out like this. I outlined some of my flowers in black for more impact.

The girls' tanks turned out unique too.

Wash in cold water as some colors will come off if washed in warm.
