My husband and I (more him than I) have been slowly (snail's pace) remodeling our "built in the 70's" home. My thought process is that our three daughters will live upstairs and share a bathroom while my husband and I reside mostly on the first floor and share that bathroom. Well, he finished creating our bedroom (the old dining room - small but so very cozy). My studio is right outside our bedroom. He put in two French doors that lead into my studio and one that leads into our bedroom. Of course...I can't leave anything alone and had to spice up the french doors in my way! Here's a pic.
I cut out a bazillion various sized circles from colorful tissue paper and Mod Podged them to the glass. Now, the doors came with plastic over the window panels, and I never removed that. I just worried my husband might think I was a little nuts for doing this and not like it. Then, if he really hated it (or I did too for that matter) I could easily use a craft knife to cut the plastic off and the decoupaged faux stained glass would peel off with it.
You can see that there is factory plastic over the glass because you can't see through it all that well.
However, I am very happy with how it turned out! So, I don't have to worry about peeling off the plastic anyhow. Now, nosy kids can't peek in but we get a kaleidoscope of color every morning because the sun pours in from the east window of my studio through the door. It's very happy!
