All rolled up!

As the name of my blog indicates, I love paper. I always have. As an artist, I tend to do a lot of things with paper, scrapbooking being my number one. But I also find, I love to cover bird houses with paper, create journals with all sorts of colorful scrapbooking paper, create homemade cards from punches and stamps and cardstock...just about anything that uses paper, I'm there. Well, I found this unique idea for recycling magazine paper by rolling it and making bracelets out of it.

I thought maybe my older daughter might like to make them and try to sell them  to make a little extra money. We are having fun finding colors and words and all sorts of cool things that you can do with these magazine ads. We look at magazines a whole new way now. In fact, it was very difficult for me to leave the salon the other day and not take the magazine with me that I was reading. I found so many pages that would have worked great for making bracelets.....:)

Think Spring!

Ok, I'm not one to complain about the Wisconsin weather because frankly, I like it. I love winter with the sound of crunchy white snow, crisp sparkly mornings and the snow globe effect; like when snowflakes are so big and chunky I feel like I'm in a snow globe and someone shook up my world. But the other day, I just about had it with our luke warm winter. Foggy days, almost humid afternoons, muddy brown traces of lingering snow and cloudy skies. I feel like we've been living in the month of March for 2 months now and it's only Feb.

So, I went craft surfing on the computer and found these darling fabric birds.

Curbly is the link to go to the website and read how to make them.
After finding these darling little rays of sunshine, I started to hit every craft store around to find remnants or quilting squares to hatch these little beauties. Now my studio looks like a fabric clown threw-up because there is the prettiest material everywhere!
Being the cutest things ever, my littlest daughter, who is a Karate sponge, decided all these new friends needed to be named and pulled around in the "Tweetiecart". I was mad at first because my girls can never leave my things alone and I didn't want all my masterpieces wrecked! But then I realized how cute the whole thing was and I allowed her to play with them if she promised to be gentle. In the morning I found them huddled together under the window where she parked the cart. They were all chirping to have their photo taken, so I did.
I would like to  make some feathered friend mobiles for the Art Fair I will be in this summer and also for my brother and sister-in-law who are having a baby in August. That's right, I will be an auntie again. This will make me an auntie for the 11th time! The sweet ones with the o-so-cute ribbon tails will go on white sticks for their nursery.
